Baby Xander received his donor heart September 26th, 2018!

During a 34 week ultrasound, Alyssa and Ray experienced a horrible surprise as they were told baby Xander had critical aortic stenosis, a congenital heart defect that was inherited through Alyssa’s family. They were then immediately sent to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and within an hour they were seen by the top pediatric cardiologists. They were told once the baby was born, the doctors would perform a balloon valvuloplasty which is a tiny catheter inserted in Xander’s heart that helps expand his narrow aortic valve to allow more blood flow to the body. Due to the narrow aortic valve in the womb, the only set backs were that his left ventricle and mitral valve were overworked and severely damaged as well.

“This is how we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another. If anyone sees a fellow believer in need and has the means to help him, yet shows no pity and closes his heart against him, how is it even possible that God’s love lives in him?” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭TPT‬‬
