Edna was recently diagnosed with cancer and she still needs your help. Please consider making a donation to help her pay for the medical expenses not covered by insurance. She could use your prayers and your donation. Please read on for more of Edna’s story. Thank you,
Hi, I’m Edna Jones, a 75 year old woman who suffers from many Illnesses and I had many surgeries and I am in need of a lift and many other things.
I just received 11 neck and back surgeries and I’m unable to lift my arms above my head or bend my head downward. I’ve had five strokes and I’m plagued by migraines and seizures with a traumatic brain injury.
I have a motorized chair that helps me get around but unfortunately the mechanism that enables the chair to lift me in and out and up and down does not work and it is very expensive to fix. This chair could be a lifesaver for me. I live alone and the chair can help me in everyday tasks like getting in and out of the shower, entering and leaving the house, reaching the food stored in my cabinets. Independence, that’s what your donation would help me retrain.
I have had a full but tough life, yet, I am resilient moving toward a goal beyond myself. I am able to be strong, despite my many weaknesses. I am able to be healthy despite my many issues. There is one thing that I have not been able to achieve. Something that I have dreamed of many nights. That something is: SUCCESS!
I believe this is my season. People ask me “why at your age Edna?” I am the reason WHY! God does give Second Chances; this is mine. They ask, what happened to your first chance? Well, life happened. Motherhood happened. The nurturing of my small children, who are now grown with kids of their own. The commitment to my husband, who is now gone.
It is my turn now. I am ready to turn up the volume. I am preparing to start my new life, in my little quiet place. It is a great time for me to work alone without any interruptions. For once in my life!
Growing up in Red Spring, North Carolina a young beautiful girl with the world at her feet accompanied by eight sisters, nine brothers, a mother and a stepfather that molested me every chance he got!! There were many distractions!! I had dreams of going to college. Becoming a nurse, being a successful woman!!
Unfortunately each time my mom allowed my step-father to harm me it broke my spirit, My will & My trust. He robbed me of the joy in going to school, the joy in learning. I lost my way. After falling into a dark place I became pregnant on purpose in hopes to leave home for good. A plan that backfired. Costing me my education. I missed out on that life. He robbed me of my childhood.
Now the hunger for education grows in a 75 year old grey haired lady wanting to pursue her GED! This is my greatest dream. It is so important to me; it’s not about me showing the world! It’s about showing that little girl from Red Springs, North Carolina that no matter what happened in life, the sky is the limit and you did it because I am resilient moving toward a goal beyond myself.
I’m asking for your help to keep my independence. My motorize chair is medically necessary. I also need a caregiver a few days a week to help me with my doctor’s appointments. There is the cost of travel to these appointments, co-pays on medication, dental work, things that are not covered by insurance.
I am a 75 year old lady who loves life and loves helping people. I’m working to get my GED. I was very involved in the Hammond Grove Word Power Ministry. Helping with fundraising events to help the local people in my church and my community to make sure that young people have the tools to succeed in school. With your help I’ll be able to return to my church.
Me, my family and friends are asking you to join with us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in my (Edna) honor, to help with expenses. Insurance does not cover all the medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury.
Donations to Help Hope Live in my (Edna) honor, will help ease the financial burden and allow me to focus on a healthy recovery and serving the community I love.
I chose to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button. And please consider sharing this link with others so they may donate as well.
Thank you
