On August 16, 2001, Chris was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after days of vomiting and severe fatigue. He was rushed to Wayne General Hospital where he was diagnosed with a glucose of 1500. The doctors immediately began to work on him in order to lower his blood sugar. After a few hours of getting his blood sugar under control, Chris began to come around. He was very weak, but responsive.
Over the years, Chris’ condition has been tolerable, but he does still have spells at times. Chris is an outgoing person who never lets diabetes define who he is as a person. He has always been an active young man who enjoys hunting, hanging with his friends and watching Alabama football (ROLL TIDE!).
Chris is never one to complain about his condition, but lately he has started to feel that he’s dealing with more issues than his body can withstand. Chris has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure, along with Gastroparesis. He looks forward to living a normal life one day and receiving a kidney transplant.
As you can imagine, the cost of Chris’ kidney transplant care and recovery are very expensive. Even with insurance, we are still facing out-of-pocket expenses, such as medications and trips back and forth to the hospital. Chris will also need around the clock care due to the other illnesses he’s dealing with.
As we prepare for a kidney transplant, we need your support now more than ever. Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden we’re facing as a family and give Chris the chance to live a long, healthy life.
Family and friends of Christopher Pough are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Chris has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
Prayers for Chris to receive the care he need!!
