The family of Julie Gentry desparately needs your help to fund uninsured medical expenses for her kidney transplant.
Julie’s long battle with kidney disease has come to a critical point. She is now in kidney failure and will be receiving a kidney transplant on October 29, 2018 in order to survive. Julie is fortunate that her loving husband of 37 years is a perfect match and is donating his kidney.
Julie has always lived a positive and productive life despite her chronic health condition. She and Chris adopted their daughter, Amanda, at 12 years old. Amanda is married now and she and her husband Chris have three children, Mia, Matt and Bob. Julie has taught children to be positive, expressive and creative through movement & dance in the elementary schools and is also a Physical Therapist Assistant. Her favorite pastimes include watercolor journaling and volunteering with her Therapy Dog in the nursing homes and schools reading with children. Julie’s positive attitude and lifestyle helped her to avoid the inevitable for a long time, but now her kidneys are functioning at only 10%, and she needs our help.
While Julie has health insurance, many transplant expenses are not covered, such as anti-rejection medications, co-pays, stay at a guest house near to the clinic, travel to appointments when home and living donor expenses.
Julie has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to the full extent allowed by law for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
We are happy to be home for the holidays! We are getting stronger each day & I am able to walk with my puppy in the woods about 1 to 1 1/2 miles each day. It feels so good to get outside in the woods & snow.
The doctors & staff at St.Mary’s kidney transplant center have been wonderful. I am progressing along according to schedule.
Thank you so much for all your donations & prayers. Everyone has helped us more than you could ever know.
Thanks so much to all of you who have donated!

Still feel like I am moving slowly but I’m sure that’s just me thinking I should be running around more! About every 2nd day I just crash! I’m trying to paint & keep a journal along with exercise.
Chris went back to work today. My first day on my own. I can’t wait to get stronger so my puppy Kiaya can come home.

We are home now, sure feels good! Still slowly but surely recovering, but feeling better everyday. Feeling blessed to have Dave & Sandy here (my brother & sister-in-law) to help out. Kaiya gets to be home while they are here. So nice to have my “therapy dog.”
November 6, 2018 Julie & Chris are discharged from the hospital and staying at a guest house close by the hospital until Monday to be closer for Julie’s appointments & lab work.
I will be having my kidney transplant surgery on October 29,2018 at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Chris, my husband, is my living donor.
