In 2001 Grant was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PCS), a liver disease that eventually leads to the need for a liver transplant.
Grant continued to work until the summer of 2018 when he fell even iller. An MRI showed he had cancer of the bile ducts in his liver. He immediately started radiation and chemotherapy. This, of course, made him even iller.
On January 7th, 2019 Grant received the gift of life from a donor and had a liver transplant. The transplant was a success, however, the doctors found out that cancer had spread to Grant’s pancreas.
On March 18th, he will have another major surgery, called a Whipple procedure, to remove parts of his pancreas, stomach, and intestines.
Needless to say, this will require months and months of recovery, and has put a huge financial burden on Grant, Robin, and their 3 children.
Donating to the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation can help ease some of the financial burdens and reduce some of the stress while Grant focuses on his treatment and recovery.
Grant has chosen Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button.
