On October 16, 2016, Jerry Smart’s life and that of his family changed forever. Struck on his motorcycle by an uninsured driver, Jerry was initially unconscious and not expected to live.
His long recovery and the devastating effect on his resilient wife Angela came to the attention of Pastor Nicole Crank of Faith Church–who rallied Angela’s faithful sister members to pay for and construct a new outside deck and the necessary ramps to allow Jerry to be returned home after 7 months in the hospital, and subsequently to be wheeled both in and out of his home. Please watch this inspiring video, created and owned by Faith Church, about the beginning of Jerry’s Journey of Faith, a story of unending hope and progress, motivated by the great Christian faith of their family and friends.
Family and friends of Jerry Smart are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury. Jerry’s friends have chosen to fund raise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to donors for contributions made. In addition, your donations will not create income tax liability for the family.
Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related living expenses, paid directly through Help Hope Live. Jerry had been the sole means of support for his family. Now paralyzed from the neck down, he requires constant care, which his amazing wife Angela provides. But with no regular earned income, and the couple’s savings exhausted, the family’s children struggle monthly to help their parents cover basic living and medical expenses. With just $750 income from social security, it’s especially critical in these first 3 months is to help them cover mortgage, water, electricity, and telephone payments of over $1400 per month.
To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, please click on the Give button. Please consider a regular monthly donation. It would be especially helpful in providing some financial stability for the family going forward.

Thank you for your support!
In this second video, don't miss the revolutionary new treatment that Jerry has been receiving since January 2, 2018, and the remarkable result of his first treatment. As legendary St. Louis acupuncturist Dr. Ginger applies heat to the needles in Jerry's legs and feet, note the beginnings of movement in response to her treatment! Through these regular treatments, Jerry continues to progress. He is determined to walk again, and is making slow but steady progress towards this goal!

Please join me with an automatic monthly contribution to Jerry and Angie at a level you can afford. It will give them the ongoing monthly support they will need into the future until Jerry or Angie will be able to work again. I am donating in memory of my dear wife Kathy, who died just over ten years ago. She was beloved by all of us, me, Jerry and Angie. May she rest in peace and be always remembered. Thank you all so much! Bill Ash, Team Member and Campaign Coordinator

I\'ve known Jerry and Angie for 25 years. Jerry has helped me with every conceivable house problem. He was always upbeat, competent, reassuring. I know that he often undercharged for needy clients, and would go late into the night if someone was out of heat or electricity. Since his accident over 2 years ago, Angie has been his angel, never giving up or counting him out, providing constant care, juggling medical appointments and unbelievable financial pressures. Both she and Jerry been under unbelievable stress this entire journey—this alone making a normal, happy life impossible. This amazing Christian couple has total faith that God will provide. But we need to all step up with whatever we can give to help make it happen. Please join me and our other team members Betsy and Barbara to help support Jerry\'s Journey with the money they urgently need to give Jerry his chance at a better life.

Jerry Smart supported his family by providing quality home maintenance and repair services to a long list of very satisfied customers. He was a man of many talents in so many areas, and brought his many years of experience to every home project. Jerry always responded quickly, and with a smile, to a client\'s need, any time of day or night. Whether the call was for plumbing, heating/cooling, painting, or remodeling, Jerry provided expert service and sage advice. Through the years, I have valued Jerry and Angie\'s kind and warm friendship. Please help them with a generous donation. They are a wonderful and deserving couple who have met with a heartbreaking tragedy.
