Make a Difference in Matt’s Life
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you already know, for the last couple of years, Matt has been courageously battling end stage renal disease. Matt is now doing home dialysis every day, four times a day. Though he is doing fairly well on this treatment, he is still unable to work. We are told that his only real shot at a long and healthy life is to receive a kidney transplant as soon as possible.
Currently, Matt is completing his medical evaluation at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. However, due to the extraordinary expense of transplantation, as well as Matt’s inability to work, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Despite having Medicare, many of his medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket. Matt will need $5,000 before the doctors can start the transplant. He will also need thousands more for travel to and from the center and the costly immunosuppressant medications he will have to take for the rest of his life. This presents a challenge Matt cannot meet alone.
To help offset his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Matt’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
