Family and friends of Joseph Menzel are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Joe was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) in 1998. He was 3 years old. He received a family donated kidney in October of 2001 at the age of 6. He has had a successful run with that kidney but has since had a recurrence of the disease (FSGS) resulting in failure of the kidney. He was started on dialysis in March of 2017. He is currently listed on the transplant list in Denver. Joe loves to hunt, downhill ski, four wheel and snowmobile and would love to “get back at it” The vast majority of Joe’s medical expenses will be covered by his insurance however he is required to live in Denver for the first 6-8 weeks post transplant, then will require weekly visits ( a 2.5 hour drive). Mom will also need to be out of work for that amount of time putting a strain financially for them as well. Funds will be used for housing, gas, and to offset living expenses.
Joseph has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to the full extent allowed by law for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
