At just 33, Amber is fighting for her life. She was born prematurely and her lungs were under developed, which caused her to have chronic lung disease. From the day she was born, she and her family were told she was living on borrowed time, and eventually would need a double lung transplant. Her lung function has decreased steadily over time and Amber has been warned one more serious illness could have devastating consequences. The doctors agree she has used her current lungs to capacity and say a lung transplant is critical for her survival.
Amber is a single mother to eight-year-old, Olivia who is the light of her life! Amber looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free her from an oxygen tank and allow her to take part activities that we take for granted like going to playing with our kids at the playground, going to school events, walking more than a block, even a trip to the grocery store or a stop at Target. Most importantly, Amber looks forward to watching her daughter grow up. So we need some help!
Unfortunately, Amber’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price. Even with health insurance, which will cover a large portion of the cost of the transplant, Amber faces significant expenses related to the transplant, including relocation to the Bay Area. After the transplant, Amber will need 24-hour follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications which are critical to her survival.
