James was diagnosed in January 2018 with ANCA vasculitis. This rare disease damaged his kidneys, and he was hospitalized for 10 days. He was on dialysis three times a week and was unable to work for several months. His kidneys seemed to improve for a while and then their function declined again due to the buildup of scar tissue. He is currently awaiting transplant while his kidney function continues to worsen.
James is a high school social studies teacher with a wife, two young children, and three furbabies. He looks forward to regaining his energy to keep up with them all!
