Thank you for taking the time to consider donating to my cause. I will tell you that I have struggled with creating this page because I feel so very blessed in my life. However, this is one of those times I need help and I will explain why.
Approximately 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I have limited symptoms, but the symptoms I do have are affecting my activity in life. I have a foot drop that has gotten increasingly worse over time as well as weakness on my right side. I struggle to push through the debilitation daily and continue with my daily routine. However, there are electronic leg braces by Bioness that can help me with walking. I have gone in to have them fitted and to make sure they will alleviate my symptoms. It was amazing how much easier walking was and going up and down stairs. You don’t realize how much effort you are putting in daily to do every day things until you have an appliance that helps alleviate some of the struggle. They are amazing.
As with so many medical things these braces are not a covered benefit through insurance. All together the two braces cost just under $10,000. I have been offered a grant from the MS society for $300.00 and a grant from the MS foundation for $1000.00 with the possibility of an additional matching $1000.00. I am so grateful for both of these foundations for their generosity. As you can see this still leaves me with the majority of the cost as a personal responsibility. I am working two jobs to be able to help pay for my care, as so much is not covered by insurance. I am really just at a point that I don’t have additional time to take on more work. Not to mention that I don’t know that I could physically take on more work without hurting myself.
As I mentioned initially, I have been blessed with wonderful family and friends who support me unconditionally. But, I don’t want to lean on them financially, I feel this is just too much to ask for. So I am asking for help from everyone. If you have a few extra dollars that you can spare I would appreciate it beyond words. Every dollar will bring me one step closer to achieving this goal sooner rather than later. I do not want anyone to go without so that I can have. Please do not donate money you cannot afford to do without, I would feel terrible.
I promise to keep you posted on the results. I am only keeping this request open for a short period of time. I am focusing on getting my braces in January.
Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration. I am wishing you all Health, Wealth and Happiness in the years to come.
