My name is Jennifer Dawn Broadwater and I’m 44 years old. I’m a single mother of two. My daughter will be off to veterinary school soon and my son is attending high school. They’ve been the greatest of blessings through my illnesses. Unfortunately they’ve had to grow up sooner due to my ongoing health issues.

My story starts with an open heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect when I was 5 years old. Due to a total blood replacement that I received during the surgery, I was given blood with Hepatitis C. It wasn’t discovered until I started having multiple health problems 30 years later. I was quickly put into drug therapy trying to cure the disease. Two years later and two rounds of drug therapy finds my with a zero viral count. Thank God!

Unfortunately the liver cirrhosis was advanced and causing other problems, such as encephalopathy, low platelets, fatigue, pulmonary hypertension and acute kidney failure. Finally after a 21 day stay in the hospital in March of 2018, it was decided to replace the liver. The hope was that a liver transplant would improve other organ failures. I received a new liver in April 2018. So far it’s doing beautifully.
