December 27, 2018, my life got turned upside down.

My youngest son Lincoln got rushed to the ER in a near death experience due to his body shutting down. Three days later finding out his pancreas is no longer working and at 11 yrs. old he is now Type 1 Diabetic. In the meantime, putting my own health aside to ensure my son was going to make it through this life changing experience on January 1st 2019, I’m then rushed to the ER with pulmonary edema and a blood pressure of 245/172. After fighting for a week in this hospital, I pulled through with my final diagnosis being End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

Out of everything, I wouldn’t have ever imagined my body would be in renal failure. All my life I have been active in sports, enjoyed making people happy and held an optimistic view on life. As a professional, my passion has always been helping people… in the last 5 years I’ve found my calling as a Sales Director in assisted living and memory care. Now, I’m the one that’s needing help with my health. With my son Dominic (14) and Lincoln (11) watching, this is one challenge I have to fight through and win! I am not alone… God gave me a rock with my Luv Karen, my family and my friends that have always pushed me to be stronger and better all my life. As I go through dialysis, doctor visits, and a kidney transplant and beyond, I will be on this journey for a while.
