Two short months ago Aurora was back in the hospital due to sever dehydration and declining health. Then we heard the news we never thought we would. Aurora was going to be listed as high priority for a bilateral lung transplant. Let the mixed emotions begin….
We never expected things to happen this quickly, but yesterday on April 11th we got the news that a good match had been donated. I have never been so hopeful, grateful, worried and anxious about everything to come. I am so grateful to everyone who has loved and supported us along this journey. This is the beginning of a new path for Aurora and with all of you behind us I know she will get through this like a rock star!
Family and friends of Aurora Vaughan are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Aurora has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
As many of you have heard Rory had her 2nd lung transplant on 4/17/21! She is awake, breathing on her own, talking and doing everything she is supposed to. We were told today that patients usually don't do this well after a second transplant but I know if anyone could it would be Rory!!
Thank you everyone for your prayers, positive vibes and all your love and support!
“You have been assigned this Mountain to show others it can be moved.”
Rory has been in Boston Children’s Hospital since February 10th and is finally almost ready to come home. Rory made the very mature and brave decision to have a G-tube placed prior to leaving the hospital since it would be inevitable before her transplant and as she said, “Let’s just do it then.” Rory can see a difficult, sometimes painful and often scary situation and push through it because it is what must be done. Her strength continues to amaze me every day.
Never have I seen anyone work harder both physically and mentally to achieve a goal. And right now, her goal is to get stronger, get home and wait for her next lung transplant. She is excited to spend time with her family, friends and most of all her dog. She still has a long road ahead and a lot of hard work to be as strong as possible and have a successful second transplant.
The generosity and support we have received from family, friends, community members, people from around the country and local businesses has been overwhelming. There is no amount of gratitude to express how much Rory and I appreciate all the donations and continued words of support. So please continue to pray and send Rory your love, it helps more than you can ever know. We truly would not be able to fight this battle without you.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, created fundraisers, and participated in the several fundraisers over the last month. We are almost half way to our goal of $25k in just one month!
Rory celebrated her 18th birthday this weekend at Children’s Hospital, as she was admitted early last week. However, the last few weeks did bring some positive news! After two weeks of testing, Rory has qualified to be added to the transplant list for her second double lung transplant. Rory will most likely be staying at Children’s Hospital until it is time to receive the transplant.
As Rory continues to fight, we will continue fundraising to cover her medical bills and related expenses. Since St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, and green is the transplant color, we will be selling candles over the next month. Pre-order is now available through the link below, along with additional information.
Thank you for your continued support of Rory and her family!
For 18 months Aurora's lungs were doing everything we could have hoped for. She attended school, hung out with her friends walking around town. She was able to go to the beach and swim and ride her skateboard! Then in September of 2020 they found signs of rejection in her lungs. Although we have continued to take the necessary steps to stop the rejection and get Aurora back to health it has been an emotional and physical struggle.
Recently, Aurora has had trouble walking again, becomes short of breath with even the smallest activities without the use of a wheelchair and is on full time oxygen again. This has been a long a difficult journey for her. She has never needed the love and support of those around her as much as does right now. She is a fighter and I can't help but believe she can beat the odds!
Thank you everyone for your continued support we wouldn't have made it this far without all of you.
Keep her in your thoughts
Pray for her and send her all the positive vibes!
We got the call! Two short months ago Aurora was listed for a bilateral lung transplant due to declining health after two years of being diagnosed with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension. Over the past two years Aurora's quality of life has significantly decreased due to this awful disease. She could no longer play sports, attend school, suffered from constant side effect of medications, having to use oxygen constantly and being unable to participate in many things we consider normal everyday life. Through it all she has kept her sarcastic sense of humor, been a role model of strength and positivity. She is truly my hero!
So on April 11th we got the call that a donor was a match and now things are well under way! This is the beginning of a long road ahead for Aurora but I know it will be a better life! Your help and support will help us get through this and focus on whats important to her physical and emotional recovery. I promise to keep everyone updated along the way. Thank you for your love and support!
