My name is Janelle Hannafious. I am 65-years old and have lived in beautiful Colorado all my life.
I am a 30-year survivor of a liver transplant due to primary sclerosing cholangitis. Due to immunosuppressant medications for my liver, my kidneys have failed. I am on dialysis and have insurance but there are many things my insurance won’t cover, for example post-transplant medications, housing, transportation expenses, and insurance premiums that I cannot afford to pay. Right now, I am getting help from the Kidney Foundation to pay my medical premiums, however, the Kidney Foundation will no longer assist post-transplant. I have worked as an RN for over 20 years. Recently, I took an early retirement due to the demands of dialysis and ill health. I have three children and three grandchildren and I want to see my grandchildren grow up (there may be more coming 🙂 I have been told I am a strong individual in spite of everything I have gone through.
There are two transplant lists I am on, one in Denver and one in Omaha. Either way I will have expenses in both locations. One of the requirements for my transplant is to have funds to cover post transplantation expenses.
My family and friends are raising money to help fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a kidney transplant. This organization is called Help Hope Live and is nonprofit. Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button. For more information, please contact Help Hope Live at 800.642.8399.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can contribute.
With much love,
Janelle
