Billy was born and raised on a working farm in Alabama. As soon as he was old enough he joined the Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Assistant Chief there for 12 years before he moved his family to Siler City, NC. He worked with a national livestock feed company for 20 years. He served in management for most of those years. After moving to NC he also joined the Siler City Volunteer Fire Department to help protect the community. He retired from the volunteer fire service after 40 years of service.
He has served his community well by helping save lives and homes in all those years. Billy conducted hundreds of Fire Safety programs teaching fire safety to the community, churches and schools.
He currently holds a North Carolina Real Estate license and is an agent at Harris Realty and Auction in Siler City but, is still unable to work due to his health.
Now Billy needs your help. Billy was diagnosed with stage 4 COPD and has had a double lung transplant. The pre-transplant care was very expensive and post-transplant care that is required will cost thousands of dollars a month for the rest of his life, not all of it covered by insurance.
Family and friends of Billy Williams are raising money through the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses, deductibles and coinsurance payments associated with transplantation.
Billy has chosen to fund-raise through Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button.
Thank you with our sincerest gratitude and appreciation.

Hello all,
I didn’t know how excited a person could be to get driving privileges back. I’m driving all the time now. Brenda is back in the passenger seat.
I’m still in PT but only one day a week now. On the days I don’t go to PT I’m walking about 3,000 feet at home. Still building my leg strength (Muscles) up.
I went to the Transplant Clinic on Friday and all was great. Breathing test was up again, (now 97.2%). Lab work looked good and X-rays of the lungs were great. They made some small changes to the medications and all else stayed the same. The doctor told me not to come back to Clinic for 4 weeks.
New Lungs are great and I am thankful to my Donor and their family.
I want to thank all of you for all the phone calls, text messages, etc. checking on me.
And as always please keep us in your prayers.
I wanted to give you a quick up date. I went to the Transplant Clinic today and all was good. Breathing test was up, (now 91.4%). Lab work looked good and everything else was OK. They want me to stay on the same meds and told me not to come back to Clinic for 4 weeks. New Lungs are great and doing very good.
I received a call from Billy's nurse and before she could finish asking if I wanted to visit, I was saying yes! Other than looking a little woolly he looks good. Of course there are bruises and bandages and not but a couple tubes now but, he looks great. Still tired and still not eating but he's ready to come home! Maybe in the next week or so he can come home.
It’s been hard on Billy, not being able to see his family. Say a little prayer for him today. Being without our family support system, except FaceTime, is wearing on him.
Billy Continues to improve. Meds are working on him a little but otherwise he's doing great. Going to stay a bit longer to get Meds in control. He's Superman!
This is Brenda, Billy's wife. He got the call first of the week May 26. Forgive me my days are all running together. He got his new lungs and he's doing great. Will go to step down unit as soon as they have a room. Praise God.
Friday was a dry run. Hopefully the next call will be the one.
Got the call this morning about 11:15 to get ready to come to hospital. He has been poked and prodded and waiting to see if it’s a go!
