Billy was born and raised on a working farm in Alabama. As soon as he was old enough he joined the Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Assistant Chief there for 12 years before he moved his family to Siler City, NC. He worked with a national livestock feed company for 20 years. He served in management for most of those years. After moving to NC he also joined the Siler City Volunteer Fire Department to help protect the community. He retired from the volunteer fire service after 40 years of service.

I received a call from Billy’s nurse and before she could finish asking if I wanted to visit, I was saying yes! Other than looking a little woolly he looks good. Of course there are bruises and bandages and not but a couple tubes now but, he looks great. Still tired and still not eating but he’s ready to come home! Maybe in the next week or so he can come home.

It’s been hard on Billy, not being able to see his family. Say a little prayer for him today. Being without our family support system, except FaceTime, is wearing on him.

I have known Billy and his family for many years now. He was a fellow fireman and friend. Live by faith not by sight!
