I am writing to you on behalf of my husband, Moses (Eddie) Hart. As you may know, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and has been on extensive medications and a LVAD, Left Ventricular Assist Device (heart pump) to help keep his heart working.

Moses is a veteran of the Navy, having been deployed as part of Desert Shield. He also served in the National Guard as a field medic. Moses worked for many years as a Corrections Officer for the State of Pennsylvania, as well as donating time as a volunteer fire fighter. He has, unfortunately, been unable to work for the past three years.

Moses spent both Christmas and his birthday (12-27) in Allegheny General Hospital this year. He was having a GI bleed. This is a common side effect with an LVAD implantation.

The bleeding has stopped and his is home now.
