Family and friends of James Stokes are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

I would like for you all to meet my best-friend, my soul mate, a wonderful father of 3, and my husband James Ray Stokes. We met in February 2012, but his medical journey started way before that. While working 60-70 hours a week and then coming home to be with the family left little time for himself. During a yearly physical, it was brought to James’s attention he was diabetic. This started a downward spiral in his health.

Around Thanksgiving 2016, James started feeling bad. Then around New Years 2017 we went to the ER and left with no answers. Finally February 2017, James was diagnosed with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) cirrhosis. Since then, James has had 2 GI bleeds, numerous paracentesis, a couple of surgical procedures, and way too many hospitalizations. In July 2019, James was approved for a liver transplant and was put on the list.
