Kim Powell, affectionately nicknamed Keebee by her niece who could not pronounce her name, has been sick since she was a little girl. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just 7 years old. A lifetime battling diabetes has taken a toll on her body.
Things took a turn for the worse when in 2009 Kim was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a debilitating disease made even worse by the fact that Kim is allergic to the disease modifying therapies that have shown to stop the progression of the disease.
The combination of these two diseases have ravaged Kim’s body. She is bound to a wheelchair, and doctors predict she will not get out of the chair.
The things that you and I may take for granted are the things that Kim is striving for. She would love to be able to cook dinner for her family but cannot reach the stove. She would love to bake again but cannot reach the oven. How about just showering, the most basic need, made extremely difficult without a modified bathroom.
These are not frivolous desires; they are basic quality of life items that everyone should enjoy. Please help Kim fundraise for home modifications that will make these basic wants attainable again.
Family and friends of Kimberley Powell are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Illness.
Kimberley has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
