I am a mother, grandmother and friend. I also happen to have Muscular Dystrophy. I am confined to a wheelchair and as a result am homebound. I am raising money to obtain an ADA accessible vehicle. This will allow me the independence to attend medical appointments as needed, and both family and community events. I would also be able to obtain and maintain employment if I had this independence.
I am a positive, kind person who will do anything to help others. I struggle with asking for help myself. Recently, I had to have surgery at a hospital 3 hours from home. Because I used non-emergency medical transportation to the appointment, this meant that I had to travel the day before and stay in a hotel room. I was unable to transfer independently from my wheelchair to the bed, so I had to sit up the entire night before my surgery. Frequently, I miss out on events for my kids and grandkids. My son was also recently in the hospital and I was unable to visit him.
By donating to my fundraising cause you will help me become more independent. Any donation large or small can help me achieve my goal of owning my own ADA accessible van.
Please share my story with your friends and family as well. Thank you all for your help.

Today is my online auction.
I wanted to share a recent example of why I need an ADA accessible vehicle. Today I had an appointment to complete laboratory tests. I had scheduled to have non-emergency medical transport take me to the appointment. Due to scheduling error on the companies part I was unable to attend the appointment. I have an online auction scheduled after Christmas. Please buy goodie baskets and help my cause.
