Darin McMahon is a father, husband, son, brother, best friend, uncle, and a devoted man to his community.
On September 15th our world changed forever. Darin was participating in a tactical shooting class when he was wrongfully shot in the neck with a live round of ammunition. Both instructors and students should have been using a training gun that shoots a chalk pellet. However, this was not the case and Darin was shot during a training exercise. Darin does not have movement from the shoulders down. While we remain hopeful for a miracle, we are told that the bullet sits at C6 and his spinal cord is severed at C6 and damage as high as C3. Darin is on a ventilator and unable to breath on his own.
Darin McMahon is first and foremost the father of 2 young children ages 5 and 7. He is their greatest supporter! He attends hours of football practice, theater, cheerleading, and karate each week. He is a local business owner and continually donates to youth activities and fundraisers/campaigns. He supports his wife, Tiffany, in coaching cheerleading and is always there to help her set up her classroom each year. He has sponsored families during the holidays and sponsors a classroom each year.
Donations will help Darin to cover medical bills, renovations he needs to make to his home, purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle, and technology to allow Darin to use voice commands to control his home and gain some independence. Donations will help with the need of continued physical and occupational therapy as well as hired home help needed when Tiffany has to return to work in January. Darin will require close monitoring once he returns home. He will need home health care, medical supplies, and there is a possibility he may need to relocate for a period of time so the he can continue to receive outpatient services. His current rehab is 2 hours from his home.
Donations to Help Hope Live will not only help Darin, but your contributions will impact his family- Tiffany, his wife, and their two children Sage (7) and Cohen (5) by helping to bring Daddy home into an environment that meets his everyday needs and a car that will allow them to go places as a family again.
Family and friends of Darin McMahon are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury.
Darin has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
Darin determined last week that he was not going home on the vent. He is 4 nights and 5 days off of the vent. He still required oxygen and a "flow" from a vapotherm machine...but we are moving in the right directions. He is determined to not go home on a vent. We also have a possible date to go home...December 23rd!
