As a 56 year old mother of three, a grandmother of five and my extended family, I am grateful to all who support me and have helped me keep a positive attitude. In 2015, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and for the last four years I’ve been hospitalized a number of times. First in February 2015 when I suffered a stroke and received the diagnosis, which then required extensive treatment. After months of recovery, I tried returning to work as a private caregiver, but my condition had worsened. By December of 2017, I had a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) put in place to help the blood flow to my organs as I waited for a new heart.
Gratefully, I was given a new heart and new hope for a brighter future. I would remain hospitalized for the next thirty days after my heart transplant.
Since then, I haven’t been able to work full time and at one point put on Medical Disability which impacted my ability to make a living. Although Medicare helped, my medical expenses such as Co-pays, Transportation Costs and a special Food Diet after the heart transplant have all mounted together, and at times can be overwhelming.
Thanks to Help Hope Live, those burdens have been made lighter and have allowed me to do what I love, spend more time with my grandchildren on the weekends and Holidays.
As I share my story with you, I hope to inspire others and bring awareness to the importance of Organ Donation and Donor Fundraising Activities which can save lives such as mine. And just as my family and Help Hope Live have helped me, I would love to help others with similar complications.
Your donation today, no matter the amount, will have a huge impact for those suffering from Congestive Heart Failure. You’re only one click away from changing someone’s world forever.
