On March 5th, 2019 myself and much of the Triton High School Family watched as Dan fell off the stage during a fundraiser called “Dancing With the Stars.” He spent 8 weeks at Cooper Trauma in intensive care with 15 broken bones and a traumatic brain injury, also fighting pneumonia and septic shock. He was placed on a ventilator, and contracted malignant hyperthermia which caused widespread nerve and muscle damage and he lost the use of his arms and legs. With strength, grace and humor he is recovering now at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
He is improving daily, and now has some movement in his arms and legs. He has three hours per day of therapy, speech, 1 hour each of occupational therapy and physical therapy. He is working hard, and it is really paying off.
He is my hero. Despite insurance there are still many expenses associated with Daniel’s care.
We are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of Daniel to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with his care.
We chose to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button. Dear Dan,
I was friends with Sharon in high school. She was the smartest girl I ever met and embodied the qualities of a true leader. I admired her strength, feminism, and kindness. She was always an inspiration to me. We reconnected through Facebook several years ago. Amazingly, Sharon still embodied all those wonderful qualities from high school and more. But, as her beloved husband, I’m sure none of this Is news to you. We are so proud of your efforts and continual progress. Please accept this donation to assist your further recovery with our sincerest wishes for complete healing. We hold you both in our prayers daily.
Fondly,
Barbara and Gerry Barresi (formerly Barbara Miller)

Hi Dan.
You don’t know me but I went to school with Sharon. I’ve been following your horrific accident and your impressive progress. Keep it up...you are strong!

Hi Dan,
Congratulations on your progress.
Hey, I don\'t think you know about my brain surgery. Maybe you remember that my right arm shook pretty noticeably. In 2003, I learned about deep brain stimulation, had it done, and now my arm shakes about 90% less that it did. I have a computer chip in my brain that basically tells my neurons \"don\'t shake.\"
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I wouldn\'t shake. It will be 16 years next week, I can still hardly believe it. When I talk about \"my arm\" to people I\'ve met since the surgery, they look at me like \"what you you talking about.\"
So who knows what awaits you.
I\'m not surprised by Sharon\'s positive updates. You were always such a positive guy... I bet that helps during these challenges. And no doubt there are LOTS of people sending you very good thoughts... even a guy you haven\'t seen in 35+ years.
I\'m sending my prayers and best wishes and really look forward to seeing again. Ed

God bless you my friend, hang in there
