David M Kenney has had End stage Renal Disease for years and was fortunate that his spouse was a match. On August 14, 2020 David received the transplant from his wife.
David is a hard working father of 2 kids ages 18 and 16. He works his behind off day in and day out to support his family. The donation of the kidney left his wife laid up as well as David.
He is always immunosuppressed. It will be weeks before his recovery and limited exposure to the public. His family is prepared for the long haul that of constant travel for tests and doctor visits in a remote city miles away. We need your help!
David works in public service 6 days a week and is missing that overtime. His wife Rosa Maria in public schools is working with special children. David is faced with the reality he will be unable to work for 8 weeks or more. The sick and Vacation time banked is not sufficient and ran out on August 30. All this time had been used when he reported early in the year for transplant but was greeted with the news they had to do a AAA aneurysm repair before the transplant could be done.
The expenses related to a transplant are high. The number of times they must leave work to travel; the costs add up. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center, David will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. David found the cost of those drugs require assistance. One of the medicines is not formulary and that will be very expensive.
We need help to assist with medical expense, very expensive medications, and Subsistence. David has chosen to fundraiser for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button. 9/1/2020 New insurance year started for the school. Zero deductible is satisfied for the new plan year. In other words, everything is coming at me. Doctor visits this month are 9/3, 9/10, and 2 on 9/24. 9/4 I have an ultra sound. I take 14 medicines because of the transplant and some are doozies.
Blue Cross Blue Shield quotes Myfortic at $2619.00 a month which in the end will less. They quote Envarsus XR $3679.00 a month. You can see where I have to do something. In the old days we had Chili feeds in the Church. I can't do that because I can't even lift a pot of Chili fresh into recovery. The other issue is I am immunosuppressed to avoid the rejection of the new kidney.
I am currently in search of fundraising ideas that won't risk my getting Covid or anyone helping me. That is probably going to be virtual. So even if you don't want to donate, I could use your brain power for ideas and even help get the word out on social media.
https://helphopelive.org/campaign/16686/ is the link you use to get them to the fundraising site. Average cost of a kidney transplant is $200,000. I haven't seen my part after insurance since the transplant was 8/14/2020.
Recently I acquired new friends. Working 6 days a week while working I didn't explore social media. Right now I am laid up and have time to expand. Friendships never have prerequisites. If you can help great and if you cant, I still want social media friends. Ideas? Get the word out?
