Leland is a husband, father & grandfather, former little league coach & currently a vocational director for developmentally & intellectually impaired adults. He is in need of a kidney transplant due to multi-organ failure, Urosepsis, Legionella & Pneumonia related to Legionnaire’s Disease. He became ill while traveling to see his new grandson & spent one month in Flagstaff, Arizona in the hospital until he was strong enough to return to Oklahoma for rehabilitation to regain function with walking, speech & eating.
We are asking family & friends to join us in fundraising for the non-profit Help Hope Live to assist us with expenses he will face related to his transplant costs, after care expenses, anti-rejection medications & other related costs while he is unable to work.
While he has health insurance, many transplant expenses are surprisingly not covered. Any unexpected illness is costly to most families & back to back health problems has been financially devastating to our family.
Leland is a special man who cares deeply for his family, friends & his community including all the young people he has had the opportunity to coach. He continues to have residual effects from Legionaries but his primary problem is that his kidneys have not returned to normal function. He continues to work full-time despite needing dialysis treatment three times a week.
Donations can help ease the financial burden he will face during & after transplant so that he can concentrate on his recovery & long life with family & friends.
