Kellie was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2015. This is a progressive disease and is now at a critical point. Kellie needs a HEART AND LUNG TRANSPLANT in order to survive. She was recently added to the transplant list. Kellie’s illness puts us in a position in which we must ask our family and friends to join us in fundraising for the non-profit Help Hope Live to help raise funds to cover critical expenses that Kellie will face immediately before and after surgery. These expenses include medication expenses not covered by insurance, transportation expenses, emergency assistance for living expenses and post surgery lodging near the transplant center where she will be required to stay for a minimum of 3-4 months.
Kellie has worked 2 to 4 jobs at a time since her early 20s to raise her 3 children. She continues to work now, despite her chronic health issues, to support herself. She is the very involved and proud grandmother of 6 beautiful grandchildren. Kellie is a tough cookie with a warm heart. She is always willing to help others in times of need and has continued to do so even as her own health has declined. She has always participated in the care of her grandchildren and she took an integral part of taking care of our grandmother in her last years. She has also helped in the care of our uncle who is very ill himself.
Pressure in Kellie’s lungs causes increased pressures in her heart and it makes her heart work extremely hard to do its job. Her right ventricle is significantly enlarged and the systolic function is severely reduced at 5.3% (normal is 55-70%). Kellie needs our help now.
Your monetary donations and/or volunteering your time for fundraising can help ease the financial burden of the transplant process and will allow Kellie and her family to focus on her health and recovery as she looks ahead to watching her grandchildren grow-up.
Family and friends of Kellie Bridges are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Kellie has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
