Stem Cell Transplant for Yu-Ling
Hi, I’m Yu-Ling. I’m from Taiwan and am living in the US since 2011. I was diagnosed with two rare diseases (cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS) with a mutation and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH)) in May of 2019. HLH is highly fatal if untreated. Luckily, a matched cord blood sample was found by my doctor and I will be receiving the stem cell transplant by the end of the year or early next year. If the transplant succeeds, it will take months to a year for the recovery.

It’s Day 7 now. I had my transplant a week ago and everything went well. Now, we are just waiting for the cells to grow and to take over the job that my original cells cannot do.

As a fellow autoimmune disorder warrior, I can relate to some degree (I also live in America and got my PhD in the sciences [immunology]). I applaud your courage and optimism and hope your transplant achieves all It is meant to achieve. Best of luck ❤️
