Dan is the pillar of our family. He is a husband, a father to 7 wonderful adult children, a grandfather to 11 amazing grandchildren and a great grandfather to 3 beautiful great grandchildren! He is the most selfless person you will every meet. He’s loving and good and kind.
He’s Dan the Computer Man, Peepaw, Grandpa Upstairs, our Rock!
As you may or may not know, two years ago, Dan was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. He has been on dialysis ever since. The survival rate after three years of dialysis is only 50% and it gets worse every year.
Dan needs a kidney transplant, but he is not able to get on the transplant list because, in order to be accepted, he has to have enough money in the bank to pay for the co-pays on six months of anti-rejection drugs. This amounts to $7500.
In addition, there will be deductibles and copays for the transplant itself, and for the live donor costs, should one be found, as well as future costs for anti-rejection medicine until he is able to work again.
Even with health insurance, many costs are surprisingly not covered.
Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden of a kidney transplant and allow Dan to focus on having a full and long life with his loving family and friends.

There's very few people I'd do this for; I don't exactly know why I'm doing this for you to be honest, other than the fact that I can, and I feel it's the right thing to do. Dan, even though it's been years, you are still a friend and if I can help I'll do so. Not just for you, but for your family, and your friends. Get well soon my old friend!

Dan, you have no idea how truly sorry I am for your predicament. You were one of my best friends, and though it\'s been a long time I still think of you a lot. I know we\'ve grown apart in the intervening years, but I still regard you as a friend. I know I\'ve upset a number of your family members by some of my comments and opinions, but I\'ve always considered you a true friend; Donut baker and coder.

Sometimes I'm ashamed of my country for their "inability" to help their ill citizens.
I hope my meager donation helps you in some fashion, Dan.
Take care.
