My name is Brittany DeShields. I’m 31 years old and currently working a full time job. I recently graduated from Del Tech Community College with my associates degree in Science. I love being around my family and friends. My loved ones are a great support system. They are always there for me and I appreciate them dearly. During my free time I enjoy reading books, doing word searches, and love making crafts.

I was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2009 and started dialysis. I received my transplant in 2013. Due to insurance complications, it became very difficult for me to get any of my medications which resulted in a failed kidney transplant in 2018. In January 2019 my kidney failed again and I’m now back on dialysis 3 times a week and have been trying to get back on the transplant list.

A Kidney transplant procedure cost is $262,900. Medicare and Medicaid will not support the anti-rejection medications I need for 3 years after being transplanted. The cost of anti-rejection medications is $727.95 even with Medicare. The funds that I will raise from donations and fundraisers will go directly towards helping me pay for my transplant related expenses.
