My name is Tyrone Jones and I am living with kidney failure. I was 29 years old when I was hospitalized for the first time. My lungs were filled with fluid, my heart was enlarged, my kidneys were failing, my blood pressure was in the danger zone and I started having mini-strokes. At one point I was placed on life support and given a slim chance for survival.
I spent many weeks in the hospital but was finally released, I was partially paralyzed on one side and required dialysis. I was forced to quit the job I loved and adjust to my new life as a dialysis patient. This was not easy for me because I have worked and earned my own money since my teenage years. I was put on the transplant list, not knowing that it would be 10 years before I would get the call that would give me a chance to return to my normal life.
2015 was the year I received the opportunity for a transplant, I was nervous and excited to finally have a chance to get off dialysis. The first year after transplant was rough to say the least! So many trips to the hospital with reasons ranging from mild infection to near sepsis. When things finally started to level off I received a job opportunity and I couldn’t have been happier. I would be able to work and feel like my self again. Life was good and it stayed that way until 2019.
I started feeling sick and returned to the hospital only to find out that my kidney was rejecting. I was completely devastated…..I would have to quit my job and start dialysis again. That is where I am today, back on the transplant list awaiting another chance for my life to change.
Donation funds would help me during my transition period before and after transplant The funds would help with the cost of medial expenses, including medication, co-pays, transportation and other living expenses until I am able to return to work. I’m so eager to get back on my feet and would greatly appreciate donations of any amount. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and please give if you can. Be blessed!
