My name is Victor M. Plasencio, and I am asking for help from my family, friends, and the public. In 2011, at the age of 40 I was diagnosed with a very rare lung disease by the name of P.A.M. (Pulmonary Aveolar Mircrolithiasis) This disease is crystallizing my lungs. At the time of diagnosis, I had 48% lung capacity to breath with. Now, I have reached a critical point with less than 15% capacity.
My family and I are asking for help from all of you with expenses that aren’t covered by my insurance. I am in need of a double lung transplant soon. My transplant center is the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The transplant team has accepted me for transplant and are trying to get me in ASAP.
I currently reside in Cheyenne, Wyoming where I live with my wife and our 11 year old son. I am originally from the Scottsbluff, Nebraska area where I lived most of my life. I also have 5 daughters, 1 step-daughter, and three step-sons. We have six grandchildren. I really enjoy spending time with our grand kids at the park and watching them play and having fun. I love to play and interact with them but because of this disease, I have a limited amount of activity I can do with them.
I began working construction at the young age of 14 in the Scottsbluff area doing roofing then moving on to do concrete construction at the age of 19 continuing until the age of 41. In 2012 my doctor told me I wouldn’t be able to work anymore. I was always a hard, reliable worker willing to learn and experience new projects or whatever came my way. It was at this age that I also received my G.E.D. This is something my family and I are very proud of.
Being that I need this transplant ASAP, my wife and I are not financially prepared for all the expenses involved with it. Such as gas, food, and lodging to and from the center for treatment. Also, some medications
will not be covered by insurance. We are expected to be in Omaha anywhere from 3 to 6 months before, during, and after transplant. In order to survive while in Omaha, the transplant social worker says we will need approximately $2500 to $3000 a month.
I am asking if you can, and have the heart to donate to Help Hope Live to help ease the financial burden of uncovered costs of transplant for my wife and I, so we can focus on a quick healthy recovery. I would like nothing better than to breath on my own without oxygen. I want to be able to enjoy playing catch with my son or play at the park with my grandchildren.
Any donation would help and is greatly appreciated!
