My name is Rachel Clayton, and I have been battling cystic fibrosis my whole life. Unfortunately, it has come to the point of being evaluated for a lung transplant. While I don’t need to be listed immediately, I narrowly avoided it twice in the latter half of 2019. With the addition of Trikafta to my medication regimen, my health has gotten better, but the threat of needing a transplant still looms. That is why I am asking family and friends to help in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to assist with the many expenses associated with transplant.
Despite many challenges, I was able to achieve my dream of going to college for biology and getting a job in my field. However, a few years ago my illness reached a point where it prevented me from working any longer. But I refuse to let that keep me down and have always worked to stay busy and stay positive. Cystic fibrosis may have won this round, but it won’t win the next one. I’m hoping you’ll join my team and fight with me.
While I do have health insurance, there are things that it does not cover. For example, it will not cover travel expenses or lodging (I must stay overnight at a hotel when I travel to my follow-up appointments at the transplant center). It will also not cover expenses of relocating if I need to move in order to be closer to my transplant center at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Please note that if I end up being able to go longer than anticipated without needing a transplant, the money you give to Help Hope Live goes to a regional fund to help other transplant patients as well. We’re all in this together. You’ll be able to help us focus on recovery and extend our lives. We’ll be forever grateful for your support.
Family and friends of Rachel Clayton are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Rachel has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
