PLEASE HELP!

Some of you know me as Durwood Hite while others refer to me by my nickname “Bear”. I have been battling end-stage renal disease for many years and need a kidney transplant. In 2009, I had to start dialysis treatments just to stay alive. I am doing fairly well on this treatment but, after extensive testing, my doctors from the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) have determined I am a good candidate for a kidney transplant and will need one soon.

Fortunately, I have been able to continue working my security job and that means so much to me. While Medicare is an enormous help, even when combined with my take home pay, it does not cover all expenses associated with the transplant. I had been placed on the kidney transplant waiting list at UMC only to be put on hold recently. This is due to the prescriptions that Medicare does not cover. The immunosuppressant medications range in cost from $7000 to $10,000! I will need to take these for my lifetime. This presents a financial challenge I cannot face alone.
