Thank you so much to everyone who donated to the initial 2020 campaign for Ledoh’s recovery! Thanks to you, he has made incredible strides and has far surpassed the limits of his original prognosis. Through a combination of specialized acupuncture and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, he has regained significant physical function in his upper body. This enables him to text and talk, all be it with a distinctive accent. He’s so grateful to everyone who made this healing journey possible and for those many friends who’ve been donating their time to accompany him as an escort to acupuncture or oxygen therapy with opportunities to socialize.
Ledoh ‘s original Help Hope Live campaign in 2020 has covered these expenses through 2024. Now we are launching a new campaign for the upcoming year to maintain his progress by raising the critical funds needed for him to continue these quality-of-life-sustaining therapies.
We are happy to announce that an anonymous family foundation has issued a matching grant challenge to kickoff Ledoh’s 2025 fundraiser. This launch fund will match your gift of up to $10,000 dollar for dollar. You can click on the Help Hope Live contribution button to make a donation and help us meet a $25,000 goal to cover 2025 therapeutic treatments!

An Astounding Recovery
Ledoh’s March 2020 medical emergency was grave to say the least. Immediately post stroke, he remained in a deep coma for weeks. Doctors advised his family to be prepared for the worst. However, Ledoh beat the odds
He awoke with full mental function, but with highly compromised physical functions, including full paralysis of his left side. Unable to access therapy or even family visits throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,somehow he did not lose his mind nor his spirit. Western medical protocols suggest that stroke recovery therapy is most effective within the first 30 days. Since he was only able to access care only after more than a year had passed, he was offered little hope for improvement
Ledoh and his friends did not give up. Denise found an incredible traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, Dr. John Nieters, who agreed to take up Ledoh’s case. Dr Nieters saw the potential in hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help restore neural and muscular function lost due to the stroke. These combined therapies now enable Ledoh to speak, write and attend to much of his self-care
This progress was only made possible thanks to the hundreds of friends, family, and friends of friends and family who donated to Ledoh‘s Medical Recovery Fund at Help Hope Live in 2020. Thanks to all of you, Ledoh is thriving. He continues to reflect and express his irreverent wit and observations on the human condition in writing and in person with friends. And he dreams of getting on a sail boat someday soon...

I trained with Ledoh a couple times in Oakland back in 2003-2004. I have fond memories of this time because I just moved to San Francisco and met people that I still connect with to this day. I learned the best facial expression training (if you call it that) ever! Sending healing light to you!!!
