After 5 years on the transplant list, India was blessed to receive a kidney transplant at Johns Hopkins on 12/01/13. This fund was set up in 2012 to raise money to help pay for travel, housing, and uninsured medical expenses associated with her kidney transplant. As of 01/01/19, thanks to your generosity, India has raised $12,099! Thus far these funds have been used to pay for travel, accommodations and for medications such as insulin, and medical supplies.
Future funds raised will be used to help offset her annual out-of-pocket medical expenses and in particular to pay for her diabetes medications (India became a Type II diabetic due to steroids needed to prevent kidney rejection).
To read more about her journey with kidney disease, see this article in the Concord Journal

Hi Everyone - I just learned that if I can reach a fundraising goal of $10,500, I will receive a matching grant of $1,000. I already received a grant of $500 thanks to your donations. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! ♥ India
India is really enjoying her new freedom and having more energy.
She is very happy to be home in Concord, MA. She arrived home on Jan. 4th and has been settling back into managing her day-to-day life. Her first priority upon arriving home was to get rid of all her dialysis supplies. WOO HOO!
She has to return to Baltimore for appointments with the Johns Hopkins Transplant team several times over the next few months. Then she will be released to the Transplant team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for care, which she is looking forward to.
A BIG thank you to all who contributed funds which paid for her stay in Baltimore. Each of you should be hearing from her soon.
India received a kidney transplant at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore on Dec. 1st, 2013! CONGRATULATIONS INDIA ROSE! She is currently staying in Baltimore for follow-up care and will be there until at least early January 2014. Lodging, travel, and living expenses for her and her Caregivers will be ~ $8,000. Please consider making a donation before December 31, 2013! To all those who have already made contributions and to those making scheduled monthly donations - THANK YOU! Your generosity is helping to provide a safe and nourishing haven for India's healing. Thank you!
