Okay came through the surgery.....looks like it worked. Just one little hiccup but way too tough to let that take me out. Thanks everyone for helping out where you can.

Dear Uncle David,

I know I have no idea what you are going through....physically or mentally. I do know what I have witnessed over the last year. I have watched you struggle not to take out your confusion and frustration on the children you have taken under your wing. I have watched you do everything in your power to make sure your family survives and thrives. I have noticed that despite the obstacles you have always persevered. You make sure that our family can be better than it was.

This has been such a shock to us all. Not that bad things could happen; just that they would happen to you. Yet isn't that how everyone that hears that word, "cancer", feels? Whether they have it or know and love someone who does. I just wish that I could take this new stress off of your already crowded shoulders. All I can do really is pray that God can give me the patience and strength to be there for anything you may need me for.

I can only guess at how hard it was for you to tell everyone. Especially the children. You took on all of these young family members, who had no one else, and put them under your protection. It comes so naturally to you to want to protect all of us. Now once again you have shown us all what true strength is.

It has got to be stressful making sure the kids are taken care of, while trying to make all of these new doctor appointments. Mainly because they have all been in Dallas, several hours away. The pressure of having to find a way back and forth, while making sure everyone here is also taken care of. Keeping your depression and feelings of frustration hidden. All so the kids wouldn't be upset. You, my dear uncle, are amazing.

Your strength of will blows my mind. With all of these things in life coming up against you, and you still want to fight. I pray we can all learn from you now....and well into the future.
