On April 29, 2020, William (Billy) was a victim of domestic violence and was shot by the girl he was seeing. He was taken to University Medical Center Tucson trauma where he was diagnosed with a complete severing spinal cord injury, resulting in paralysis from the waist down. Billy has since been transferred to a rehabilitation facility where he continues to work hard daily to regain mobility.
Billy is a caring and hardworking son, brother, uncle and father. He loves new adventures and sports. His newest adventure will arrive sometime in September, as Billy will be a father again, but this time as a single parent and with a disability.
As you can imagine, the cost of Billy’s care and recovery are immense. Even with insurance, we are facing many out of pocket expenses such as home and vehicle modifications to accommodate Billy’s wheelchair, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, and life skill therapy to accommodate learning how to be a single parent with a disability and a new profession to be able to provide for his family.
Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden we are facing as a family and give Billy and the new baby the chance to live life as fully as possible.
Family and friends of William Hartless are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury.
William has chosen to fund-raise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

July 15, 2020 - Billy is home now and keeping Mom busy. Lots of doctor's appointments and an intense medication schedule. Billy is continuing rehab on an out patient basis with homework and getting stronger everyday.
Mom got the bathroom redone and Billy's bedroom. All handicap accessible now. Ramps are being installed and we are trying to get it all pulled together. We got this! Thank you to everyone for their support!
