On June 6th, 2020 Frank Giammona II was blessed with a lifesaving heart transplant. He is currently recovering in the hospital at Mayo in Phoenix, AZ. He has had a few setbacks but is making progress towards being released. After leaving the hospital, Frank will be in temporary housing close to Mayo Hospital for the many follow up visits, tests, and rehab for at least 6 weeks.
Frank was first diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy after he contracted Valley Fever more than 15 years ago. His condition worsened as time went by and he had to have a Pacemaker and Defibrillator implanted. He has always lived a positive and productive life, as best he could, despite his health condition. Frank is an avid sports fan and loves to play golf and ride his motorcycle. We are hoping this opportunity he has been given will enable him to continue being the happy, positive person he has always been.
While Frank has health insurance, many transplant expenses are not paid for. Deductibles and copays for lifelong medications, lodging for the 6 weeks close to the hospital, home health care and rehab, are just a few. Frank is fortunate to have many family and friends that support him with prayers and well wishes, and now he needs financial support.
To help with the financial burden of Frank’s heart transplant, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising for more than 30 years. Thank you for your consideration of a tax-deductible donation.
Your financial gifts, as well as your prayers, will be greatly appreciated and will help us through this difficult time.
Sincerely
Frank and Myna
Frank and I moved back home this weekend from our temporary house close to Mayo Hospital. This is a huge step for Frank Giammona II since his heart transplant. He will still be tested for rejection every other week for awhile and then those will be spaced out farther. So far everything is going well and we continue to be blessed and thankful for everyone’s prayers. Thank you Sara Fletcher for all your help getting us settled back home! ❤️
Update: Feeling good, nice to be out of the hospital and finally getting some good sleep with my buds. Still have some peripheral issues but the heart is strong and healthy. Thanks again to everyone for the donations, prayers and well wishes, it truly has been helpful in getting us through this.
Update on Frank Giammona II. He left the hospital Tuesday July 7th and we made it thru our first week in temporary housing. All his follow up appointments have been good and he is progressing well with physical therapy. The medications for anti-rejection and infection have made him diabetic so that is new to our daily routine. He will go in next Monday for another heart biopsy to check for rejection. We appreciate everyone’s prayers and encouragement as he works to get stronger. He is looking forward to the day he can start getting around without the walker.
