I’ve had medical issues my whole life. I was born with a large and painful left ankle arterio-venous malformation long before the medical community knew what it was and I was told there was nothing wrong with me.
I’ve had multiple traumas including April 1981, I was run over by a bus while riding a bike with friends. My head bounced off the back tire a couple times and I ended up with several scalp wounds and a concussion. My right little and ring fingers were mangled and partially reconstructed after countless surgeries over 1 ½ years.
In 2006 I had to leave my profession as a medical center administrator for Group Health and go on disability. I’ve never been able to return to that profession or anything similar. I have my own quilting business that I work at when my body allows.
My family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of me, Pam Selnes, to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury.
I chose to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button. And please share my page with your social media community.

Vicki from Portland won the quilt raffle! Thanks to everyone that purchased a ticket!!
Thanks everyone! I raised enough money for my power scooter and it is being delivered this Wednesday, August 4! I'm so excited to get out and about. and very very grateful! Thank you so much!!
Last week one of the motors on my donated power wheelchair died. Since it was old and rebuilt when I got it last year, it really isn't worth fixing and wondering when it will break and what it will cost to fix again.
Since Medicare doesn't think leaving my home is considered medically necessary, the purchase of a new power wheelchair would not be covered. I have a manual wheelchair with a SmartDrive power assist that is only suitable for home use.
So, I'm also fundraising for a new power scooter. I do not need all the features of power wheelchair. And since any repairs or maintenance would not be covered by insurance, I've decided on a brand and model with a great reputation - Afiscooter C4.
I'm hoping I raise enough to purchase it during the summer so my Service Dog Tallene and I can get outside for walks and on the trails again!
