Ron had a successful transplant on June 21, 2014!
His surgical recovery went well and he made a complete recovery in 3 months and was back at his job!
However, a routine CT scan in March 2015 revealed an ascending aortic aneurysm which required immediate open heart surgery. His surgery to remove the aneurysm was successful, and he had a long recovery but made it back to walking, running, and working, yet again!
He is now focused on maintaining his new kidney and his now aortic graft he has received. And to do that he will need funds to cover the anti-rejection drugs for the rest of his long, healthy life.
We hope you can give at least a little. As Ron is fond of saying, “A lot of people who give just a little can do a lot of good!” It doesn’t matter if it’s just $10 or $5. This help will secure his ability to keep his new kidney stable that will greatly improve his health and way of life.
His family and friends have come to assist in a variety of ways, including with ways of fundraising to cover the large costs that will not be covered by his insurance.
Ron has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive (HHL) – The Leader in Fundraising Assistance and Support for Transplant and Catastrophic Injury in part because HHL provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800-642-8399.
Thanks for your support!
Staples have been removed, and all seems to be going quite well with the new kidney!
Also, I was asked to be in a medical trial for a CMV vaccine. CMV is a virus that can cause transplants to reject. Let's hope the trial proves beneficial!
We start 14 days of straight clinic visits, blood and urine testing each day, medicine adjustments, and visits with Docs, Dieticians, Social Workers, and Nurses all morning and afternoon and nights.
Your donations help make it possible! No such thing as too little. Every dollar is a big helping hand we didn't have before.
Ron is getting discharged, today! Kidney is working well thus far, four days in to transplant.
Soreness and slow in moving, but he is ready to hit the pavement on the road to recovery!
He thanks all of you for your support in making this happen!
Ron had a successful transplant June 21, 2014. He is looking forward to recovery and enjoying this new lease on life.
As of December 6th, 2013, there have been two potential transplant calls. The first was as a backup recipient, but the two primary recipients were successfully transplanted. And just four days later a another transplant for Ron as the primary recipient was offered, but the blood crossmatch came back as unable to transplant.
Look forward in the near future for news of a successful transplant!
