By April he had been in and out of the hospital several times and the doctors had no idea what to do for him except refer him to Emory St Josephs in Atlanta. After extensive testing they worked him up for an LVAD( left ventricular assist device) on may 7th and he spent nearly 3 months in the hospital. After he got out in July he had to go back in for pneumonia and then in August, after his defibrillator fired 11 times, they found out he had a blood clot in his aorta. And now he is back in the hospital again now and they finally decided to move ahead with putting him on the transplant list.
In order to go on that list since he just has Medicare he is required to fundraise $5000 dollars that the gatransplant.org people are suppose to match to ensure he does not receive an organ that he cannot buy the medicines he needs to keep his body from rejecting it.
Family and friends of Jeremy Matthews are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Jeremy has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Hey Jeremy,
My name is Sallie. I went to Express Oil today to get an oil change. I have never been there before and I was actually headed to another car place in town but for some reason I felt led to go there. They were very busy and I was a little nervous to go in a car place I've never been. My brother was my family and I mechanic forever until 5 years ago. He passed away. He was 34 with a liver disease. He had a wife and 3 kids. He was my hero. Anyways your brother helped me. He was very kind. When He told me about your situation you could tell how much he cares about you so all I could think of is I gotta help his Brother! So I know it's not much but I knew then God sent me there today to bless you and also to encourage you." Be strong and courageous for the Lord God is with you wherever you go."Joshua 1:9 I will be praying for you and I also told my Dad to put you on the prayer list at church...and lastly I will share your page too.
Sallie Smallwood
Just wanted to say i love and thank each and every one of you for your support
