My name is Nathaniel Caro. On April 25th 2019 I was involved in a motorcycle accident that left me paralyzed from the chest down. I was riding from work to the gym and on the way a driver ran a stop sign when I had the right of way and popped out into the middle of the intersection. I didn’t have enough time to react, so we collided and the result of the accident was a complete spinal cord injury at the T3/T4 level.
Fortunately, after spending a week and a half in ICU and a month in inpatient therapy I got to go home and go straight to my fight for recovery. Before my accident I was always active. I played baseball, football, and basketball competitively and eventually made my way to doing Crossfit. I was working as a granite fabricator making granite countertops for kitchens and bathrooms since I was 16 and stayed there until the day of my accident.
Unfortunately, all of that was cut short due to someone else’s mistake. But that’s all in the past now and all that matters is how we go on from here. Since my accident I’ve made improvements on seated/ standing balance, core strength, and being able to differentiate muscles from each other through activity based therapy, but I haven’t been able to control anything completely on my own as of yet. My goal through this fundraiser is to be able to buy leg braces, parallel bars, a back brace for better posture, an orthopedic bed, funding for my activity based therapy, and a few more things that will be a huge aid to my recovery.
I have a YouTube channel that I started a little while back called Nates Recovery Channel and one of the most recent videos is about this fundraiser. I appreciate the help and support throughout this journey and I’m looking forward to getting back on my feet and helping others do the same in the process.
Through your support, God’s will, and my effort it is definitely possible. Thank you.
