I graduated High School in 1974 and shortly after I worked with the Middletown Board of Education. Then later joined the US Air Force in 1975 and contributed in many meaningful ways as a Dietitian Therapist Specialist I served until 1977. I put my best efforts forward and continued my education attending the Indiana University of Bloomington Indiana where I majored in Special Education. I returned to Ohio wanting to give back to my community, I took a position as a Youth Leader at the Group Homes for Hamilton County Department of Human Services in Cincinnati Ohio, which expanded my career to a Family Service Advocate for the Head Start program. I relocated to Colorado Springs and worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at the Greg Bemis Daycare Center. I was happy to give of my time working to foster many families throughout my career at the El Paso County Department of Human Services of Colorado Springs as a Child Welfare Family to Family Administrative Technician for 21 years and retired in 2018.
I was diagnosed in 1997 with the medical condition; Ventricular Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. A condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick.
“Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy makes it hard for the heart to pump blood. It often goes undiagnosed. This condition cause shortness of breath, chest pain, or abnormal heart (arrhythmias). Treatment for included surgery of an implantable device (pace/defibrillator), and medications to slow or regulate the heartbeats.”
I had my pacemaker/defibrillator) surgery in 2010 for the next (10 years). My hopes were filled with “I get to live another day, another month, another year”! In 2010 I sadly experienced my first signs of my medical condition increasingly changing for the worse. The defibrillator pacemaker was overworking and my medications were increased for me to remain functional. I was hospitalized regularly and was in constant pain. My Cardiologist Dr. Eric Carlson in Colorado Springs identified that my condition dramatically became a life and death situation. I was referred to a specialist at the UCHealth Vascular and Heart Center in Aurora Colorado. This where I met Dr. David S. Raymer MD and his Transplant Team. The Transplant Team attended to my fragile health condition throughout the required testings and evaluations to become a candidate for a Heart Transplant. These were the first steps of hope to no longer be on borrowed time that gave me the will to one day very soon be able to return to a God willing healthy active life, where I can continue to give back to the community in need.
I remain prayerful for many reasons and one is to live without the fear to die, and that God will provide me a new heart just right for me! With a selfless amazing prayers and wonderful Heart Transplant support team, I am courageously standing in faith. I pray that many will want to give selflessly as I have given throughout my life. Creating this fundraiser platform to help raise the necessary medical funding to provide stability in moving forward is a blessing. Each of your contributions helps me to hope for a healthier, happier life. Each donation is tax deductible. Please continue to join me throughout my new Heart Transplant journey.

Dear Donators, I am still advocating for more donations to my nonprofit organization who is still assisting me with medical bills.
Here is a current update: I'm still progressing in my recovery from my Heart Transplant surgery that was done on August 7, 2021. I have completed Cardiac Rehab classes, since I was discharged from the Anschultz Heart Transplant/ Vascular Hospital in Aurora Colorado in September 2021. My Heart Transplant Surgical Team has taken very good care of me and monitoring my progress and my health. So with each day I am gaining my strength and my cognitive skills are improving as well as my walking skills.
I am coming up on "one year" in August 2022, in which I will have my Heart Transplant Annual Physical and my next Biopsy. I am currently being seen by a Kidney Specialist and a Neuropathy Specialist and I continue to go to scheduled blood drawings for my medication and kidney monitoring.
"Please continue to make your donations which will continue the nonprofit organization in assisting me with all medical bills and medical appointments involving all of my biopsies each month."
"God bless everyone who has made the donations to my non-profit organization it is humbly accepted and special to me and my family."
First of all I would like to humbly thank everyone for their donations up into the present time. Since my heart transplant in August of 2021 I have made great progress. Out of at least 14 biopsies 3 have resulted in rejections. December 7th through the December 10th of 2021 I had to go to the emergency room due to high kidney elevations and dehydration. Since then I have been getting better and better with each day. My visits to Aurora for my clinical appointments in my biopsies where once every 4 weeks but now our once every 6 weeks. I still have to get my blood drawn at Memorial Hospital at least one to three times a month. On March 9th 2022 I have completed my cardiac rehab class which has physically improved my all around endurance and stamina. I'm still being treated for medicine side effects which causes tremors and numbness in my feet and fingers which they with a neurology medication. Please continue to pray for me and that I continue to make great progress moving forward. God bless you God keep you and God love you!!
From my transplants team viewpoint I am progressing very well. I have had my ups and downs since August of 2021 when my heart transplant surgery was done. My transplant team has been monitoring closely my kidney level. On December 7th December 10th 2021 my kidney level had elevated and I was hospitalized at Memorial Hospital because I was dehydrated so I was on IVs the whole time I was there. I recently had my heart biopsy done on January 12th 2022 resulting in rejection. Since my heart transplant I have had 10 heart biopsies and three of them have resulted in rejection to include the most recent one. My transplant team has increased my immune rejection medications and I am scheduled for another heart biopsy on January 26, 2022 and I am praying that the results turn out much better. Meanwhile I am hydrating my kidneys by drinking at least 90 oz of water per day. When more prayers go up more blessings come down.
I was discharged from the rehab floor on September 2nd 2021. They really help me to get back to some type of normalcy like walking and talking and writing and my speech. I was able to return back home to Colorado Springs as of September the 25th 2021. I am progressing quite well but slowly and taking baby steps towards my recovery. I am still requesting that donations be made in honor of me post-op my heart transplant status. I am currently enrolled in cardiac rehab and in Colorado Springs.
As of Saturday September 25th we checked out of Hyatt House and came home to Colorado Springs.
August 6th 2021 I was placed on the list for my heart transplant. That same evening we were contacted by UC Health vascular and heart center with an available heart we arrived about 11:30 and the transplant was done on August 7th 2021. It has been a fast journey and I was in rehab by August 20th 2021 and discharged on September 2nd 2021. I've made great and tremendous progress and I could not have done it without your prayers and without God holding my hand it's been rough and a lot of work but God provided me with the strength to make it through. Now I have post and clinic appointments to follow up with and I am in continued rehab for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Again I want to say thank you to all those who donated and for all those who prayed for me God is good all the time all the time God is good!!!
On July 28th 2021 I had an appointment with my heart transplant surgeon in Aurora Colorado and completed my last testing. I will be tested again in about a week and we will discuss my being on the list. I've come a long way since February of this year having to go through all the testing all the blood work and evaluations and I'm finally getting near the end but it is a new beginning for me. Once I make it on the list my surgery should be done in the next 2 or 3 months. I would be so happy if people would keep the prayers going up so the blessings will come down.. again I want to thank everyone who has donated to my campaign page God bless you and God keep you!
This is an update to all those who have donated and all those who will donate. I am required to receive the covid vaccination before I am put on the list and I am in the process receiving my second dose. I will be contacting everyone to let them know when I get put on the list and after that I have to wait for them to find a donor for me. After they find a donor for me I have to go immediately to Aurora Colorado UC Health Heart/Vascular Center.
Honoring our troops today on Memorial Day I want to thank you for serving our country and for those that I had the pleasure of serving with in the military God bless you!

I have a couple more appointments and then my name will be put on the list for the heart transplant then after that it's just a matter of waiting.
