I am 64 years old I am active on the kidney transplant list with Oklahoma medical center in Oklahoma City. Two years ago this august my kidney failed and I had to start dialysis treatment three days a week, 5 hrs a treatment. Not fun. This limits travel. In order to get on the transplant list, I had to go thru a battery of tests to verify that I have no other health issues. I passed all the testing. The waiting list in Oklahoma is approximately 3 years. Dialysis treatment is retroactive in that 3 year waiting period any living kidney donors are the best situation.
A living kidney donor are evaluated the same way I was by the Oklahoma transplant team insuring that you have no other health issues as a donor. You are at the top of the kidney waiting list being a donor if you ever need a Kidney. A living donor is a one day stay in the hospital the recipients stay is 5 days in hospital and two weeks to month locally to balance medication through hospital appointments. I would appreciate a living donor. I would also appreciate any financial donation to help with the hospital expense along with travel expense and hotels to stay near hospital to be evaluated for two weeks two a month after surgery and then travel to hospital for a period of time to stay evaluated. This is approximately estimated to be 7000 .00 to 10.000.00 dollars according to the transplant center.
