Wendy and Chris met when they were young. Unfortunately, life pulled them apart. Sadly, they went long enough without being together, and now her heart disease threatens to pull them apart again. Wendy has had at least two heart attacks. One day, she could not catch her breath, so Chris and Wendy set off to see her doctor in Cadiz for an EKG. The results were serious. She was sent to Mercy Hospital in Paduca, Kentucky, and after that, to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. In March, she had a triple bypass surgery, and then in July, she had a defibrillator surgery.
Chris says that “Wendy has been so strong through everything, and I have stayed positive because I cannot imagine my life without her. I wish I had known before just how important she would be in my life.”
Because Wendy’s heart disease has not improved, it has been determined that she will need not only an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), but also a very serious heart transplant. The timeline is still unclear, as there are so many moving parts, but with these medical needs, Wendy and Chris will face lots of expenses not covered by insurance. They must travel often to Nashville from Cadiz, which is a very expensive city. They will need assistance with lodging, food, and transportation while there. Even with insurance, they will also need help with medications, supplies, medical bills, and having to take time off of work.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated to assist Wendy and Chris through this challenging time.
Family and friends of Wendy Simpson are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Wendy has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
