Nolan has been fighting with partial kidney function for many years. It is now getting to the point where the dialysis treatment will soon not work for him. We are seeking to get a transplant so that we can continue to have Nolan with us.
Nolan has shown true strength throughout the years dealing with his blindness since birth and partial hearing. As of 2016 when Nolan started on dialysis, he continued to work full time helping his co-workers and being a positive example in his neighborhood. During a hospital stay in October 2017 Nolan lost his right hand due to some complications but that did not keep him down. He went back to work but soon retired. He has continued to stay positive and uplifted spirits throughout the years.
The donations will help with expenses such as his daily medications that are not covered by his insurance; the hospital stay; any nurses expenses for home visits and rehabilitation center if necessary. Nolan has been told medications alone can be up to $4000.00 or more a month. This is medication that he will need to take for life.
Family and friends of Nolan Blair are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Nolan has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

A message from Laela...
I first met Nolan in the summer of 1983, when we attended the elementary summer program at Texas School For The Blind. We became fast friends during the next several summers, as we continued to attend the summer program in our adolescent years. As young adults, we would occasionally get together to see a band, as he was a big musician in those days. In 2000, we lost touch with each other, and reconnected through a mutual friend 14 years later. In the fall of that year, we started dating, and overcame the odds of a long distance relationship. I have seen Nolan cope with, and adapt to so much adversity in his life. He has had to adjust to complete vision loss in his 30’s, and more recently, the effects of renal failure, and becoming an amputee. He inspires me to be a better person, and I am so thankful for him! We just keep looking forward to the future, and walking through this life hand in hand.

Nolan Blair has been my mentor for over 10 years. He has been an amazing gentleman who guide me through my career and personal life. I would be lost without him if I didn\'t have him in my life. Now I see why God put him in my path. He is my brother who stand up for me when I need him. I am his sister who will stand up for him when he needs me. He deserve the best in life. We are both deafblind and we relate a lot for what it takes to be us. One thing for sure, he never stop believing in me when I ddn\'t. He\'s smart with great potential and heart. Love you, Nolan. Thank you for everything you have done for me. At last, may God to be with you all the way!
