Nearly 100,000 people are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. Unfortunately the number of people waiting for kidneys is much larger than the number of available kidneys from living or deceased donors. Without a donor Shirley will need to depend on dialysis in the very near future to survive. Dialysis will have a significant impact on EVERY aspect of Shirley’s life.
Dr. Adam Stern, a Nephrology Specialist affiliated with North Carolina Nephrology in Cary, N.C. and Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. is currently treating Shirley.
Shirley is 53 years young. She has two wonderful and very devoted and loving children and three beautiful grand babies who are the love of Shirley’s life and bring her so much joy and happiness.
Shirley has resided in Raleigh, N.C. for over 25 years and has been and continues to be an active member of the community.
Shirley has been with Bruegger’s Bagels in Raleigh,N.C. for over 15 years. She is currently a Shift Manager. She is a dedicated and loyal employee. She’s has worked tirelessly throughout the Pandemic despite her failing health. Customers come from all over the community and have for years because of Shirley’s warmth, good heart and outstanding customer service. Shirley welcomes her customers by name and knows their spouses and their children as well. She is a tremendous asset to Bruegger’s and an integral part of their success.
