Randy needs our help!
Last year Randy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). IPF creates scarring in the lungs which makes breathing increasingly difficult. Randy has received devastating news as his condition had declined rapidly since March. Randy is currently on high volumes of oxygen 24 hours a day and needs a double lung transplant to survive.
Randy has faced this struggle just like every other struggle he has had in life, with strength, hope and a sense of humor. He has received outstanding care from his transplant team at UCSF and has already gone through many grueling procedures to get him ready for this life saving transplant. Fortunately he has great insurance, however, Randy will be transitioning to the Koz House in San Francisco after his transplant and hospital stay. The Koz House provides services for lodging, 24 hour monitoring, a shared kitchen for meals and transportation back and forth for his appointments at UCSF. Randy will remain at the Koz House for 6 to 8 weeks and unfortunately this vital service is not covered under his insurance.
Randy has been a landscaper for many years and has done very well for himself but he has used all his savings because he has been unable to work at all since last year. The great news is that Randy should be able to return 100% to his normal life after the transplant!
All of us who love Randy are asking for your help to get him through this 6 to 8 week time period at the Koz House. The Koz House will provide exceptional care but the costs for a 8 week stay could be as high as $18,000.00. All donations are eligible for tax deduction. If there is any remaining funds they are used for others in similar need.
Randy has overcome many obstacles in his life but this one is literally life or death. There is no amount that is too small, absolutely everything helps!
Randy and I met when we were toddlers, we grew up together, took family vacations together, were always at each others houses, got into some trouble together, our families became a family. He has always been and always will be my big brother. Randy is one of the most kind, generous, loving, sweet souls I have ever known and I’m asking you to please help him if you are able.
Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions you may have. It is difficult for Randy to do a lot of talking but I will make sure he gets any messages you may have and he will be able to see this website.
Sincerely and with great thanks,
Kellie Slayden Anthony
