Family and friends of Robert Clarke are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Robert has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Our son Robbie is only 35 and he has just found out that he needs a liver transplant. With acute liver failure, this is his only chance for survival and recovery to keep doing his favorite things: watching his 7 year old daughter Emmie grow up, and cheering on the Florida Gators.
All Florida Hospitals with Transplant Centers are full to capacity because of the overwhelming influx of COVID patients but Rob does have a chance for a transplant if we can get him to Houston Methodist Medical Center Transplant Facility. This has been a rapidly developing situation with Rob entering the hospital at the end of July, admission to the ICU the next day, the need for a ventilator less than two days later and then also dialysis. He has no Insurance and the costs are prohibitive. With ICU, transplant doctors, ICU fitted aircraft with medical staff for transport, and months of housing expense in Houston, this could easily top a million dollars. Obviously this is overwhelming.
